Living Better Stories

The first step is the hardest to take

With the first step comes an awful sensation of becoming vulnerable.

Up to this point your dream has simply been an idea in your head. It was a secret known only by you and people you trust.

When you take that first step, the secret is out. Your dream can be known by anyone who is paying enough attention to notice. And we are all afraid of being noticed.

Being noticed brings the potential for ridicule and judgment.

But once you take that first step, you make a transition in your effort to live a better story. You are not the same person you were yesterday.

Instead of being a dreamer, you have become a doer.

Although your goal might be 1,000,000 steps away, you are now 1 step closer and that is a better place to be than you were the day before. Ridicule and all.

But you have to take that first step.
